New project in preparation

After we saw the desolate condition of the elementary school in Chora Sfakion, we spontaneously decided to help.

Since practically almost everything is missing, we will first take stock and then determine what needs to be procured and with what priority.

If all schools in Greece are in a similar state, it is not surprising that Greece regularly takes last place in the Pisa study.

Conceivably bad conditions for the school education of the little ones - how is this going to continue?

We know the conditions in Germany and see the lack or investment backlog over many years, but what we find here differs only marginally from the conditions in the third world.

I don't want to go into details, but the situation differs from that in Germany in one respect.

The young teachers do not have a permanent position. You only have a contract for eight months. After that they are unemployed. These are not good prerequisites, let alone the motivation. It is all the more to be welcomed when the young teachers are so committed to their protégés as in our case.

They can apply again in the following school year and the cards are “reshuffled”. The teachers will then be redistributed to the schools in the country. Incidentally, this also happens here with the teachers who have a permanent position.

However, it also seems to be the case that older teachers are "spoiled" from a certain age and can be given a job close to where they live.

"Settling in" and accompanying school projects can therefore hardly take place.

Construction work - none

It's kind of counterproductive - it seems.

This is probably also a reason why the Greek school system is so far behind in European comparison.

For many years last place with great decency is an announcement...

We will continue to report ...
